I have been assemblying a support team that has given me the opportunity to concentrate on what I make and let them help with the areas of my business that I may not be as strong as I would like to be. Thank you to all those great helpers and mentors!
2014 has been a turning point for my shop. It has begun to be a very busy year. Our year will include going to three for sure and maybe a fourth event. The first event will be June 14, 15, in Grand Forks and for now, end in Grand Forks in October. I am so excited for the new things that I have and new things that I am making.
Among the "improvements" to our space are: first and foremost, a new canopy. It is a Light Daome model with awnings, and an addition. After searching and looking at others, I think this one is the ultimate. I ordered it with all the zippers and awnings, and even a rain gutter that goes between the main canopy and the addition. I also had been upgrading my displays and made a purchase of metal grate triangles that will have a three-sided display area. I also got a name of a used fixture store in Minneapolis ( Accent Fixtures). I came with my list in hand and was able to get baskets, hooks, purse falls, and corner shelves. So, I am excited to say that I think I have the best that I could possibly have to display my things. So with the canopy and new fixtures, I am set for the rest of the time that I want to go to outdoor or indoor markets!
In the craft room, I have a few new things. The big purchase is the new Pfaff Sewing and Embroidery sewing machine. I am going to need a few lessons on how to use all the features, but really think that was a great addition to my equipment. I made monogrammed Easter Bags for the grandkids. They are a great size and worked way better than a basket. I have increased my supplies and added some new purchases. I have new fabric and found some great new patterns. Surprisingly, I have emptied two totes of jeans that I am making backpacks. To make them even more fun, I got a variety of colored shoelaces to replace the "girly" drawstrings.
It is going to be a busy summer! As I write this, it is June 2, 2014 which means half the year is already gone. I have made it my mission to sew or create each day. As my dreams come a little closer to earth and become more real, I am more determined each day to enjoy the journey.
